Cinnamon rolls according to grandmother's recipe

Ingredients

500 g flour
200 g sugar
250 g margarine
3 eggs
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baker's ammonia

for the filling

30 g margarine
70 g sugar
2 Tbsp cinnamon

Flour for the work surface

Preparation

Warm up the margarine and let it melt.

Mix the flour, sugar, eggs, baking powder and baker's ammonia with the still warm margarine...

... knead into a smooth dough. Then put the dough in the fridge for about 1 hour.

Mix sugar and cinnamon together.

Carefully roll out the cold dough into a thin rectangular shape on a floured work surface, spread it thinly with the margarine and spread the sugar-cinnamon mixture on top.

Roll the dough from one side...

...and cut into slices approx. 1 - 2 cm thick...

... and spread on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Be careful - leave plenty of space as the rolls will open up a lot when baking!

Bake at 300 °F (150 °C) upper and lower heat in a preheated oven until the rolls are golden brown.
