Súkkulaðikaka með kaffi

Chocolate cake with coffee

Ingredients

125 g dark chocolate
125 g butter
4 eggs
280 g brown sugar
250 g flour
2 tsp baking soda
150 ml strong coffee

150 g powdered sugar
100 g butter
150 g dark chocolate
1 Tbsp vanilla

Preparation

To make the dough, first slowly melt the chocolate and butter in a small saucepan over low heat.

Mix the eggs with the sugar in a large bowl until frothy.

Add the chocolate-butter mixture and stir gently.

Add the flour and baking powder as well as the cold coffee and mix everything into a smooth dough.

Pour the dough into a form (approx. 30 x 40 cm) lined with baking paper...

...and let it bake well in the preheated oven at 350 °F (180 °C) for about 25 minutes (test with a toothpick!).

Remove the cake base from the oven and let it cool thoroughly.

Then prepare the cream:

For the cream, melt the butter and chocolate again in a small saucepan over low heat.

Add the powdered sugar and ground vanilla and stir the mixture until really smooth.

Cut the cake base into equal halves.

Put half of the cream on the first half cake layer, place the second half layer on top and spread the rest of the cream on top.

Then serve the chocolate cake well chilled with some whipped cream.
