Ostakökubollur

Cheesecake balls


Ingredients for approx. 35 balls


120 g flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp grated lemon peel
1 pinch of salt
180 g cream cheese
2 eggs
1 tsp ground vanilla
50 g brown sugar

600 ml oil


Preparation

In a bowl, mix the flour with the baking powder, the grated lemon peel and a pinch of salt.


In a second bowl, mix the cream cheese with eggs, vanilla and sugar until fluffy.


Then fold in the flour in portions...


...and mix until a smooth, supple dough is formed.

Heat the oil in a large pot.

Use a teaspoon to scoop out the dough and fry the balls in several batches in the hot oil until the balls are golden brown.


Remove the balls from the pot, drain the fat on kitchen paper and then serve.

The cream cheese balls are wonderfully fluffy and actually taste best fresh!
