Kanilsnúðar með skyr

Cinnamon rolls with Skyr

Ingredients

500 g flour
300 g margarine
150 g pure Skyr
4 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cardamom

Filling:

50 g brown sugar
1 Tbsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cardamom

granulated sugar

Preparation

In a large bowl, knead the flour with the margarine, skyr, sugar, salt and cardamom into a smooth, supple dough.

Chill the finished dough in the refrigerator for about 1.5 hours.

Preheat the oven to 400 °F (200 °C) upper/lower heat.

For the filling, mix the brown sugar with the cinnamon and cardamom.

Roll out the dough into two portions on a work surface lined with baking paper into a rectangle and sprinkle with the sugar-cinnamon mixture.

Then roll the dough into a tight roll and cut into slices approx. 1 cm thick.

Then place the cinnamon rolls on baking paper and sprinkle with the granulated sugar.

Bake the rolls in a preheated oven at 400 °F (200 °C) for about 15 minutes, until they are delicately golden brown and the sugar-cinnamon mixture begins to bubble.

Let it cool down, ideally let it sit for a day and then enjoy!
