I'm currently knitting these " shoulder warmers ," a kind of short poncho (" slá ") that warms you when you're tired and a little chilly in the evenings or on cooler days. Not exactly for winter, which suddenly seems to be just around the corner in Iceland, but for Icelandic summer days with little rain and maybe 13°C outside, it was ideal!
My last work was this Slá here, made from petrol-colored Léttlopi wool (color no. 9423) and a plant-based pattern made from black Léttlopi wool (Ístex Icelandic wool no. 0059).
For the pattern , I based it on a lupine pattern I'd seen once and found very beautiful, but the color changes with the black on the green background made the "lupines" hard to recognize. Everyone I've proudly shown my new Slá to immediately identified the pattern as "oh, trees!" Well, okay, then my lupines are trees. I still like it!
I inaugurated my new Slá on a trip with our kids along Iceland's south coast at the end of August . These pictures were taken at the island mountain Hjörleifshöfði, a little east of Vík í Mýrdal, near the so-called "Yoda Cave."

One more stop on the way back on the Black Beach near Vík |
I hope you like my new Slá as much as I do!
