We really had 10 days now dreamlike weather here. It was cold, partly down to -15°, but clear. During the day, a bright blue sky, at night starry clear.
Only in the last two nights have clouds rolled in in the evenings, yesterday it was gray and overcast all day and the temperatures approached the freezing point. In the meantime, however, it is already getting colder again.
In any case, we were quite lucky with Northern Lights - under a starry sky, we felt like we saw the northern lights every other night. Some of the Northern Lights were hardly visible, but already clearly there.
When you then look out of the window in the warm house or even sit comfortably in the 40 °C hot pot on the terrace and the Northern Lights dance above you - I still find that simply amazing even after more than 5 years here!
And if one evening there were no Northern Lights to be seen, we at least had a wonderful starry sky!
From the right position, one could see a part of the Milky Way with the naked eye.
We even have seen shooting stars.
My husband thinks, according to the internet, it should probably have been the Quadrantids. This meteor shower was first observed in 1825 in Italy or in 1835 in Switzerland. According to more recent research, the "parent" of the Quadrantids is probably the asteroid 2003 EH1, the inactive remnant of a comet nucleus that has broken apart.
The shooting stars were definitely easy to see, even for me - and I'm usually not very good at this sort of thing.
In any case, we really enjoyed it..!
