Everything will be alright again
After my patio collapse last Friday, my husband worked very diligently to ensure that such an accident would not happen again.
With some effort, my husband and son were able to "turn" me around enough so that I could at least sit again, and finally, we were able to pull my leg out again without having to saw off any more boards.
By Saturday I was able to walk safely to the front door again.
This week, after work, my husband also removed the boards in front of the patio door, which were no longer in top condition, and also reinforced the substructure.
On the front terrace, he also replaced a board in the back that he no longer fully trusted, reinforced the substructure in that spot, and then painted the new boards. It looks perfect again and should be significantly more stable than before, so there's no more risk of accidents!
Only my shoulder still needs a bit more healing; there are better days (like the day before yesterday or today) and worse days (like yesterday). But overall, things are improving, and I can already type on the computer with relatively little pain, and I can even cut my own food again. Yay!
[Translated from here.]
My husband replaced the board in front of the front door the very next day and, with the help of child number 4, reinforced the substructure to better support everything.
The new boards were then reattached, thoroughly secured, and finally sawn to length.
Done! The old, somewhat rotten wood has been removed and the new beams are in place!
My husband has now painted the new wooden planks, so it's barely noticeable anymore.
By the way, I now also have the "vegetable garden" on the terrace that I've been dreaming of for a long time! I actually wanted mint, but the selection of herbs at the garden center (Blómaval) was pretty limited, and unfortunately, the mint had aphids. The bonus offer also included fresh herbs, so at least I have fresh basil. I love the smell!
And my various injuries are also improving significantly. The bump on my forehead is almost gone, with only a bit of scab remaining. And there's barely anything left on my hands and right knee. The bruise on my left leg, where I got caught in the patio, is also becoming less painful every day.
So everything will be back!
And thank you for all your sympathy!
